Spirulina is a microscopic blue-green algae named after its tiny spiral shape. Legend has it that the Aztecs skimmed spirulina from the surface of lakes and ponds, sun-drying the harvest into small, nourishing superfood cakes. Chlorlphyll in spirulina gives it a deep emerald-green color.
After harvest, our spirulina is ground into a paste, pressed into spaghetti-like strands and gently air-dried at low temperatures. This process creates that satisfying crunch and flavor of Spirulina Crunchies®.
